1Overview

EchoTale ("the App") is an AI-powered bedtime story app designed for parents and children aged 3–10. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

The App does not require account registration and does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other identifying information.

2Data We Collect

  • Voice recordings: You voluntarily record a ~10-second voice sample for the voice cloning feature. The recording is stored locally on your device and uploaded to Alibaba Cloud for processing during enrollment.
  • Story prompts: The story theme text you type is sent to the Volcengine LLM API to generate story content.
  • Generated content: AI-generated story text and audio files are stored only on your device.

We do not collect device identifiers, location data, contacts, or any other personal information.

3How We Use Your Data

  • Voice recordings are used solely to generate personalized TTS audio and for no other purpose.
  • Story prompts are used only to generate the requested story; they are not retained or analyzed.
  • We do not conduct behavioral tracking, serve advertisements, or build user profiles.

4Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party API services:

Alibaba Cloud Qwen TTS
Used for voice cloning and text-to-speech synthesis. Voice recordings and story text are sent to this service.
Volcengine LLM
Used to generate story text from your prompts. Story themes are sent to this service.
Slothease Backend
Used to issue temporary API credentials to the App (api-fit.slothease.com). Only the app name is transmitted; no personal data is involved.

Alibaba Cloud and Volcengine are located in mainland China and subject to applicable Chinese data protection regulations.

5Data Storage & Retention

  • All story text, audio files, and voice profiles are stored in the local sandbox on your device.
  • Deleting the App removes all local data.
  • Data transmitted to third-party APIs (voice recordings, story prompts) is handled per each provider's retention policy; the App does not independently store this data on any server.

6Children's Privacy

The App is designed for use by parents, who record their voice and enter story themes on behalf of their children. The App does not directly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the App without permission, please contact us and we will promptly address the issue.

7Your Rights

  • Delete data: Remove any voice profile at any time in "Manage Voices"; delete any story and its audio in "Library".
  • Revoke permissions: Revoke microphone access at any time in iOS Settings.
  • Uninstall: Uninstalling the App removes all local data from your device.

8Policy Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you through an in-app notice or by updating this page. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
